Partnership announcement: Ekahau Inc.

We’re very pleased to announce the partnership between Kailaz Software and Ekahau Inc. Ekahau is responsible for cutting-edge work on location-enabling Wi-Fi networks, helping businesses keep track of people and assets via wireless networks.

This partnership stems from Kailaz Software’s latest R&D project, ‘Wi-Fi based indoor tracking and augmented reality.’ Conducted in association with IT think tanks
FIATECH and COMIT, this project will explore the business benefits of mobile Wi-Fi based tracking and augmented reality. Using Ekahau’s Wi-Fi tags along with Wi-Fi enabled mobile phones and laptops, Kailaz clients will be able to add layers of meta-data to their surroundings, to monitor site access, aid maintenance, improve security, and more.

Project webinar available online

This Tuesday, Kailaz Software’s CEO Sandeep Jain presented a webinar on the company’s latest project, ‘Wi-Fi based indoor tracking and augmented reality,’ to an audience of construction industry executives, IT providers, and academic researchers. The webinar reviewed the technical and practical issues involved in implementing Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS), along with the potential benefits to the construction industry:

'While RTLS is already useful for keeping track of people and assets within indoor sites, the presentation explores how this location information can also be used as a platform for other applications, such as mobile phone-based augmented reality. […] Augmented reality adds graphics, sounds, haptics and even smells to the natural world as it exists. You would expect video games to drive the development of augmented reality, but this technology has countless practical applications which are relevant to our industry.'

The webinar was part of FIATECH’s ‘Technology Tuesdays’ webinar series, and can be viewed online at
http://fiatech.org/webinar-archives/371-october-6.html. FIATECH is an industry consortium dedicated to improving design, engineering, construction and maintenance processes for large capital assets. For more information about this project, email info@kailaz.com and watch this space for updates.
